Highland

Some of the projects running or being developed in the Highland area-

VOLUNTEER FROM YOUR SETTEE
WITH RSVP
Trauma Teddies knitted by RSVP volunteers have been recruited by emergency services to ease the trauma for children at incident scenes. In addition to being used by the emergency services the bears will be given to other organisations dealing with children who may be in need of a cuddle. RSVP volunteers also knit a wide range of items for other local good causes.

ARMY OF VOLUNTEERS BEING RECRUITED FOR HIGHLAND SCHOOLS
RSVP has also launched an exciting new initiative in Highland Schools. This involves volunteers assisting with curricular and extra-curricular activities. These include reading, music, arts, languages and projects in the school garden. Over 20 schools have already registered their interest. Involving RSVP volunteers in schools is a wonderful way to break down generational barriers as these days many children don’t have close contact with grandparents and therefore miss out on the great benefit this can be.

PLANT AT TREE WITH RSVP AND CSV’S ACTION 4 SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT
RSVP has teamed up with Action 4 Sustainability, whose remit is to provide a one-stop shop for all Highland schools to integrate sustainable development into their learning. Partnership working will provide opportunities for school children, their parents and grandparents to work together on fun practical projects such as this one.

Future Projects
I am currently developing opportunities in relation to the environment, recycling, and community care. I am also exploring the possibility of a project using Gaelic speaking volunteers.
